Green Hills In The Mist

The quiet hillside setting is a lovely place to unwind after a busy day, with cool breezes, birdsong, mist, and green hills. From Mount Pleasant Garden in Bowalawattha, Heerassagala, you can look across Kandy and catch glimpses of the Mahaweli River. It's a peaceful spot to sit on the veranda, read or check your mail, and enjoy the scenery. The drive up is beautiful and misty. The Temple of the Tooth is about half an hour away, and Peradeniya Botanical Gardens around fifteen minutes. You can also spend time by the Mahaweli River, or visit the museum near Dalada Maligawa, Gadaladeniya and Lankathilake Temples, and Ambekke Devale, known for its wood carvings. Degaldoruwa CaveTemple has old Kandyan-style paintings and architecture. Sigiriya Rock Fortress and Dambulla Temple on the Rocks are also reachable from Kandy. Come for the nature and hospitality, and feel at home in the hills.
