The owner was lovely, but that wasn't what we needed from the stay. We wanted a good night's sleep and didn't get one. The room felt very dirty, as if it hadn't been cleaned before we arrived. The sheets and pillows felt unclean, and there were so many bugs that we were relieved it was only a one-night stop. They also only take cash, something I think should be advertised these days. I wouldn't stay here again.

It has a lovely setting and a fabulous view, and the room was large, clean, and well equipped. The heritage bungalow also has a really homely feel, and the staff were polite. The food could use some attention, though. Breakfast was the same every day with no variety, so we ate all our other meals outside.

Our room was spacious and beautiful, with a balcony looking over the valley. The staff were excellent and very helpful, and the hotel itself was quiet and lovely. It's far enough from Kandy's bustle to feel peaceful, but only a quick ride from town and the Botanical Gardens.

The rooms were large, very clean, and came with balconies where you can almost see Kandy. We thought it was very good value for money, and they even offer in-room dining. There's a big welcome hall, where friendly and helpful staff greet you with a welcome drink. The place has had a recent makeover and is very nice. A good option if you're staying in Kandy.

The owners and staff were very hospitable and helpful, and the villa has a beautiful landscape and a view of part of the city. It's a colonial-style hotel, and one of the best accommodations I had in Sri Lanka. There was some confusion with my reservation, but Mr Upali offered a discount and a free breakfast. That was a first for me on my trip. I can highly recommend the Richmond house for a visit.
