Jayabima Grand Hotel

The room situation was a mess from the moment we arrived. I had called a week before and again the day before, and both times they took my details and confirmed the family room I’d booked. Yet the manager said it had gone to someone else. The front desk guy admitted he’d spoken to me on both calls, but said he’d confused my booking with another person's. My name and number weren't recorded, even though he’d written them down twice. I still wonder what he wrote them on. They put us in a smaller room, then just 10 minutes after we settled in, told us that room was booked by someone else too. We were moved again to a worse one. At least its fan worked, and there was one ceiling bulb. The only socket was a circular pin type, so we had to go into town for an adapter for our square pin phone plugs. The sink had a plumbing problem and rusty water, and there was no hot water. Apparently that was available in the AC and family rooms, including the one we were meant to have. They said we could pay at checkout, but asked for payment at night before we went to sleep. Checkout was supposed to be 10 am, yet at about 8 am a guy knocked loudly and asked if we were leaving that day and what time. Highly unprofessional staff, poor communication, and substandard rooms and bathrooms. They even have a pool table without balls, which seems to sum up the place.

We had a really lovely dinner visit today with my wife. The atmosphere felt warm and relaxing as soon as we arrived, just right for a pleasant evening out.

The rooms, food, and service at Jayabima Grand hotel Nawalapitiya were all very excellent. Manager Mr Pradeep provided us with good service. We happily enjoyed our leisure time here, and I highly recommend the hotel for families.

The staff are kind, the place is clean, and the food tastes good. Worth the money, and a great place to stay in Nawalapitiya.
