The owner even drove us where we needed to go in a very spacious vehicle, including the airport we flew out of, about two hours away. We spent our whole Sri Lanka trip here and had a pretty chill stay. The owner and his family were friendly, helpful, spoke English, and cooked whatever we asked for. It was all tasty. I’d especially recommend staying here if you’re American and new to the area or to Sri Lanka. There can be scams around, as in India, so keep an eye out, though I didn’t experience any involving this hotel. One hiccup: we booked about 15 days for around $200, if I remember right, through Expedia. When we arrived, the owner said he wasn’t connected with Expedia. Luckily, Expedia refunded us in full. I’d suggest contacting the hotel beforehand and booking directly with them.

At first we were a little confused because the residence is in the house, but we later realized it was completely separate. The rooms were very clean, and the bedroom felt like a five-star hotel. A little girl greeted us with a big smile. Dinner and breakfast were even better than at some five-star hotels. The family took special care of us, really treating us like their own, and it didn’t feel like they were just after money. Thank you so much. Nanri vanakam.
