They told me to go to the nearby Kandy City Monkey when I arrived for a booking I’d made for late August. Seems this place may have closed.

Ranjani Mapa and Kanthi served us, and they were wonderful. After the bustle of big Kandy, this place is somewhere you can unwind, with a lot of open space and a huge hall rather than a basement full of tiny rooms. There’s a nice kitchenette, breakfast is free, and coffee and tea are available all day and night. No hot water, though I didn’t feel it was needed in Sri Lanka. Laundry costs a small fee. If every hostel were like this, that’d be fantastic!
