We’ve been coming to Kandy Shady Trees Villa every month for about a year when we visit Kandy. It feels safe and welcoming, like home, and the service is very friendly. They provide everything we need.

I went with a friend after we’d just gotten our passports and didn’t have anywhere to stay. We were a little scared, but the place was much better than we expected. It felt safe, peaceful, and very relaxed.

The room smelled strongly of toilets about two hours after I arrived, and I couldn’t stay in it. I told the owner, but he said he couldn’t smell anything and told me to leave the windows open, even though it was nighttime. I asked to switch rooms, but he refused. They could at least have used air freshener as a temporary fix, but they didn’t seem to care. It was a really unpleasant stay, and I don’t plan to return.

There’s a shared terrace on the first floor with a beautiful view of the city. The room was clean and tidy, and the bathroom was alright. The owners were great and helpful, lending us a hair dryer and plug converter. Good choice if you want somewhere clean and inexpensive. Recommended!
