The owners and staff stayed really friendly even when I made some difficult requests. They were flexible and found a way to help me, which I appreciated. I enjoyed my time at the Kandyan house and would recommend it. The rooms are spacious and clean, the house feels homey, and there’s a big garden and relaxed atmosphere. Breakfast was superb too.

The pool and garden are the main draw at The Kandyan, and our two nights were nice and quiet. The rooms are big and have balconies, though the hotel is away from the main city. The roads aren’t lit, so bring a torch if you plan to walk at night. Breakfast and dinner were okay, but dinner felt overpriced for what it was and the menu didn’t offer much choice. Hospitality was weak, while maintenance was strong.

This was a ghastly stay, and I wouldn’t recommend the hotel. We spent three nights there. In our first room, there was a large amount of what looked like noble rot and mold on the ceiling. The administration said it wasn’t a problem to stay there, even though my child has serious health problems and is allergic. When they offered us another room, we found five small rats in the bathroom. We changed rooms again, and the next one was normal. Then, the following day, we came back to find that staff had stolen my money. I wouldn’t want anyone else to have nights like that.

The rooms are spacious and clean, and most seem to have nice views. The staff are friendly, and it’s a good place to stay in Kandy for a reasonable rate. The food wasn’t that great, though.

We had a nice time here as a family, and the pool was the biggest plus. It’s fairly close to the center, with the temple no more than a 20-minute slow walk away.
