Our hosts were very accommodating and experienced with hosting farangs, so we felt in good hands. The villa sits among pine trees in a wonderfully quiet, peaceful setting. We stayed there at the end of stage 1 of the Pekoe Trail. It’s on the Kandy-Galaha road, which meant a bit of a trek to or from the trail start and end. A tuk from Galaha town is easy to arrange for about 1000 rupees, but contact the host ahead of time so the driver gets directions.

Kandy is a bit of a distance away, but staying at Lake Sewana was a much nicer experience. Waking up to birdsong and sunrise over the hills was amazing, and there were lots of lovely walks and wildlife around. The hosts were so kind, and cooked us a great local meal when we asked. We even got to try our favorite jackfruit curry!

A peaceful, quiet place, with a great balance between quality and price. The owner was really friendly and helpful. I don't understand why some people gossip and give the place a bad reputation.
