Lakewood Residence

The walk up to the hotel can be difficult. Its road is steep, and older guests or people with disabilities may need a car to reach the entrance. We had older people with us, and after being dropped off in the afternoon we had no easy way to head back out and explore Kandy or its restaurants that night. Even with that drawback, I’d give the place five stars. The room was fantastic, the views of Lake Kandy from both the room and breakfast area were amazing, and the buffet breakfast was excellent. We were greeted with a complimentary drink at check-in, and the staff were very polite and welcoming.

The balcony view over Kandy Lake was my favourite part of staying at Lakewood Residence. The room was cozy and clean, just right for a couple of nights, and the staff were attentive, kind, and glad to help. I also had a relaxing, much-needed Ayurvedic massage at the on-site wellness and spa centre. The location is central and quite close to the Temple of the Tooth Relic. When I arrived in November 2025, I found the hotel a little hard to spot because it sits behind another hotel. Inside, though, the contemporary decor and soothing atmosphere made it feel welcoming. I really enjoyed my stay and would recommend Lakewood Residence to anyone visiting Kandy.

The room was clean and nice, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The views from the breakfast area were excellent. On the downside, noise from clanging plates started around 5:30am, and the balcony really wasn't great. It could be made a lot nicer with very little effort.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast had a good range of choices with very good service. There’s a nice view of the lake, and Kandy is just across the road.
