Oak Ray Heritage Hotel

Bashini deserves a special thanks for handling our requests so professionally and warmly. We booked at the last minute, and the welcome was still professional. Both the food and beverage team and room service were good. We also got to see a traditional wedding as tourists, and they moved us to a higher floor when we asked.

The rooms were comfortable and kept in good shape, which made it easy to relax. We also really enjoyed the food, with delicious flavors and consistently good quality. Oak Ray Kandy is a lovely choice for both a comfortable stay and a good meal. Highly recommend it.

Breakfast was great, and the view was stunning, but the service made the stay frustrating. Check-in took quite a while even though I arrived an hour after check-in time. Nobody apologized or could say when the room would be ready. When I called to ask about the in-room dining menu, I was told to go up to the fourth floor and check it myself, lol. The room itself was spacious and comfortable, modern and mostly clean, though a few areas needed attention. The reception area looked uncared for, and the staff seemed short on energy when welcoming guests. I have mixed feelings about the place. It could be worse, but I wouldn't stay again.

Apart from one serious morning hiccup, our stay was okay for what we paid. Water was out in one of our two rooms for nearly two hours early in the morning, possibly because the pump for the overhead tank hadn't been turned on. The staff on hand didn't know how to fix it, so we had to get ready in our ground-floor room instead. We barely made it to the 6:30am pooja at the Maligawa. Water is a basic facility that should be available reliably at a hotel. Anyone planning to attend an early morning pooja should be cautious about staying here.
