Rivora Residence

We were caught in the cyclone during our visit, but felt completely safe and very well looked after despite everything happening around the city. The staff gave us tremendous support and attention, and we're very grateful for their kindness. Rivera Residence in Kandy was beautiful and well maintained, and the breakfasts and meals were delicious. They offer a menu for 3000 LKR that was absolutely worth it. Highly recommended if you're visiting Kandy.

We loved the comfortable room, the common areas, and the balcony looking out over the jungle. The hotel really impressed us and exceeded our expectations. Dinner was confusing because we didn't realize we had to order ahead. A sign or a note on the menu might help. They kindly managed to prepare dinner anyway, but nobody offered us drinks to order.

We paid 68€ for a very poor experience at a European price. We booked a Deluxe double room, but the view was of a construction site, nothing like the pictures. From about 3:00am, water dripping onto a metal roof above the bedroom made so much noise we couldn't sleep, even with earplugs. It might have been related to the construction, but I'm not sure. We mentioned it in the morning. The receptionist said they'd offered us two rooms and we hadn't told them about the problem, but that wasn't true. We only had one room, and there was nobody to tell when the dripping began at 3:00am. How could we have chosen another room at check-in when we didn't know the noise would start later? Nobody asked us to choose. The receptionist seemed uncomfortable speaking English and was repeating what his manager said over the phone, without using common sense. We couldn't believe he made up that story. Very disappointing.

Our room, 207, was clean, well equipped, and had a great view. The breakfast was delicious, and the staff were attentive and helpful. The public spaces were comfortable and well maintained. It's a modern, beautiful hotel a little outside town, which made it peaceful. Kandy centre was still easy to reach by cab or Tuk. I'd definitely stay again.
