Rose Hill Bungalow

We spent two days here with three families, 6 adults and 8 children in all. We had four half-board rooms, two triple and two double. The children made good use of the pool, and we all loved the fresh, tasty food, which had a home-cooked feel. The hotel sits in the mountains, with lovely views of the Mahaweli River and Ambuluwawa Tower. Watching morning mist settle across the plateau was especially beautiful. There’s also an Indian gooseberry forest in the backyard, where we got to pick fresh fruit, a fun change for us city dwellers. Our rooms were very clean and well cared for. The road up was in good condition and easy for any vehicle. Mr. Abey and Chef Sena took great care of us, and Michelle coordinated everything smoothly. We had a memorable, relaxing stay and would recommend it to anyone looking for comfort, natural scenery, and good service.

The chef’s food was excellent, and the staff deserve a special mention for their fabulous service. Such a great spot. I’ll be back for a relaxing holiday.

The warm hospitality from Mr. Abewardena, Ms. Mangalika and Chef Mr. Sena made our time at Rose Hill Bungalow in Doluwa feel special. The meals were full of flavor and care, and were one of the highlights. The bungalow is surrounded by misty mountains and beautiful views, with cool, calm air that made it a refreshing place to unwind. I left feeling rested and already keen to return. It’s a lovely peaceful getaway, with comfort and thoughtful service.

A lovely hidden gem in Doluwa, and close enough to Colombo for a quick getaway. We booked five rooms for 13 people. They were spacious, had basic amenities, and all the bathrooms were clean and well maintained. Every room had an amazing view. The staff were friendly and flexible, including when we asked to adjust our meals. Food was delicious and made with fresh ingredients. It would be useful to have an à la carte menu for snacks and small bites, though we were able to communicate the quantities we needed for both nights. A social media page would also be a good addition. Definitely recommend the place.
