The Grand Kandyan Hotel

The Grand Kadyan Hotel’s hospitality convinced us to extend our stay, even though we had originally planned just one night. It’s only a short walk from the city center, and the five-star hotel combines comfort, cleanliness, and beautiful surroundings. Mr. Amith from top management gave us invaluable advice and guidance, going above and beyond to make the stay wonderful. Staff from the front desk to housekeeping were attentive and friendly. One of my best decisions, and I highly recommend it for a hassle-free, luxurious stay in Kandy. I’ll definitely return.

The staff were a real plus, always friendly, helpful, and smiling, which made the visit even better. The view is magnificent and instantly puts you in a relaxed, happy mood. I couldn’t stop looking around at how beautiful everything was. The food was fresh, full of flavour, and delicious, and the drinks were made just right. Whether you’re stopping for a meal or a drink, it’s a great place to enjoy good vibes, lovely people, and a beautiful view. I’ll definitely be back!

Months later, I finally had time to think back on my sister's wedding in May 2025. The main problem was the pricing. We booked early at a wedding show using the rates promoted there, paid an advance, and received a menu card with those prices. When we went to finalize payment closer to the date, we were told the rates had changed. The banquet department handled it unprofessionally, blaming a resigned executive who had booked the event and calling it a miscommunication. That wasn’t acceptable: the agreement said the offered rates would hold for a certain period for early wedding show bookings, provided there were no major price hikes or inflation. The issue wasn’t our fault. We trusted the process because it was a five-star hotel and didn’t challenge it further, but the receipt didn’t show the agreed amount. Future customers should make sure the final rates appear on the receipt and are confirmed by a responsible manager. We chose to upgrade the package rather than make a bigger issue of it, since it was our wedding and we wanted things to go smoothly. That was fine for us, as service and food were our main focus. Those parts, and the overall experience, were excellent. Compared with other hotels in Kandy, it’s one of the best for a luxury wedding. Thanks to the banquet manager and whole team, the Executive Chef and his team, and everyone in the other departments who helped. Cheers 🥂

The rooftop pool was a real highlight, a good size and with breathtaking views, and the glass-panelled lift was a nice touch. This hilltop location has big, comfortable rooms with lovely hill views. Food was tasty and the service was prompt, professional, and courteous. The approach road is narrow, and early morning chanting from the monastery next door may disturb light sleepers.
