The Swiss Residence

The food was the highlight. Both evening meals were tasty and came in large portions. The hotel feels a little tired in some places, but the amazing views and very friendly staff make up for it. From the restaurant and rooms, the views are brilliant because the hotel is so high up. We were also told to go right to the top to appreciate them fully. Rooms are spacious and the shower is really good.

We were left worried about hygiene and health after all four of us got cuts on our legs in the pool. The surface seems damaged or rough, our legs were bleeding, and the pain continued after we left. Poorly maintained pool water and surfaces can lead to infections. A pool should be a safe, relaxing facility, but this one felt risky. Proper maintenance and safety checks clearly aren't being done, and management needs to address this urgently before someone gets more seriously hurt. I visited Swiss Residence with three friends. The young boy who served us was polite, attentive, respectful, and checked on us regularly. His excellent service deserves recognition. The biriyani was very tasty, well balanced, properly cooked, and a good portion. The food and his service are the only reasons I'm giving one star instead of zero. The pool's dangerous condition completely ruined the visit, and I can't recommend the place until management takes responsibility and improves it. One star only for the good biriyani and excellent service, otherwise it would have been zero.

Kasun was a huge help and made our stay even more enjoyable. The staff were incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to make us comfortable. I had a really great stay at this hotel and highly recommend it.

The slope from the road is very steep and hard to walk up, and most of the time cars and Tuk tuks couldn't get up it. The staff were very friendly and helpful, but we just felt sorry for them working there. Everything except reception needs improvement, and the photos don't show how bad it is. Our sink wouldn't drain, the shower leaked brown scum into the bathroom, and the fridge was so dirty I wouldn't put anything in it. It wasn't just our room, someone else in our group had to switch rooms. The lobby toilet was poor, the lift is scarily old, and breakfast food was only warm and low quality. This place needs a massive overhaul. Definitely not a 4 star hotel, and one to avoid until it has been refurbished.
