The full-day safari with Rimesh was fantastic. He’s a professional, funny guide who can spot wildlife from miles away. We had an amazing safari and a great time at the dune camp, which is set right in nature and makes a perfect escape. The tent looked great, too. I’d absolutely recommend it.

The camp is set between the ocean and the forest, and sometimes elephants even show up at the dunes. We stayed one night and everything was perfect. The tents are lovely and have everything you need, the food is amazing, and the people are so kind.

The setting is unlike anywhere else I’ve seen in Sri Lanka, tucked into a remarkable, untouched landscape of dunes. The meals were stunning, with a range of dishes bringing out Sri Lankan flavors. Dune Camp Yala is a memorable place for natural beauty, adventure, and warm hospitality. Definitely worth a visit.

The surroundings are beautiful, and the staff are kind and hardworking, but the camp feels rough and ready. The tents are okay, though exposure to wind, rain, and salty sea air has left them worn. For what you get, the price felt far too high. It’s more like a backpacker-plus stay.

We spent two nights at Dune Camp, and the setting, tent, food, and staff were all great. They arranged a morning safari for us, and the camp is only about a 15-minute ride from the Yala Nationalpark entrance. It was a once-in-a-lifetime way to get close to nature. We can definitely recommend staying at Back of Beyond.
