Coconut Island

The lagoon setting is nice and restful, but our rooms were dark and not very clean, and there was only cold water. Communicating with the restaurant staff was difficult because they spoke little English and had to call the owner about everything. There were lots of intrusive dogs, too. We were offered a welcome drink and then had to pay for it. Food seemed a bit expensive, and there was no menu available. Breakfast was 2000 lkr, a sandwich 1500 lkr, a pancake 350, and a tasty dinner of fish, rice and curry for two was 5000.

The lagoon views are gorgeous, and the atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing. It’s only a 5 minute walk to the ocean beach. They rent canoes, so each morning you can take a picturesque ride past the mangrove trees. Highly recommended for couples and solo travelers.

I’ve stayed here many times over the years and love how peaceful, quiet and beautiful it is. It’s right beside the lagoon, a tranquil spot that’s great for taking kayaks out. The owner is super friendly.

The lagoon setting is lovely and feels wonderfully natural. We spent time by the water, watching birds and water monitors, catching the sunsets, and relaxing in a hammock. The beach, one of the south's really wide and beautiful stretches, is only five minutes away. It's far enough from Tangalle to get away from the traffic and bustle, though not far from town. The owner is warm and helpful with pretty much anything, from tours and transfers to fishing. Food is fresh and very nice, and you can hire canoes or bikes. A great place to slow down and enjoy a holiday.
