Monkeys came by every morning, which made it feel like staying in the jungle. The price was totally fair, and the host was friendly and looked after us, always making time when we needed him.

We even got to make dumplings in the kitchen, and they turned out well, as you can see in the photo :) The hosts took such good care of us. Easily the best guesthouse in Mirrissa.

The room was tiny, but for the price I really can’t complain. It’s only a five-minute walk to the main area and beach, and the owner showed us some local wildlife. Breakfast and laundry are available for an extra charge, but the prices are reasonable. Lovely property and such nice owners. A hidden gem.

The laundry was a mess. I needed it back that day, and the owner said he could do it in a few hours. I paid 500lkr and handed it over early the next morning. When I asked that evening, he said it was drying and to come back after dinner. At 9, the clothes were still wet, though he said they were ready. He told me to dry them in my room with the fan overnight, but they were still wet in the morning and I had to check out carrying a bag of damp clothes. After 12 hours, I was pretty annoyed that they hadn’t been properly washed and dried. The room had problems too: the sheets smelled mouldy, the window wouldn’t close so bugs could get in, and there were ants everywhere. The fan didn’t keep the room cool at night, and the mosquito net had been patched with band-aids. When I arrived, the owner didn’t know about my booking or have the room ready, and sent me to the beach for a few hours while I waited. The room itself was fine once I came back. He’s a nice man, but I didn’t have a good stay and wouldn’t recommend it. There are plenty of better places in Mirissa for the same price, with better service.
