OYO 388 Surf Sea Breeze

The view was amazing, the pool was nice with a shallow section for kids and a deeper area, and there was a pool bar. Staff were very friendly and the hospitality was great. There was a small booking.com issue when we arrived, but they sorted it out and showed us to our rooms. Some rooms were really good and had mosquito nets; everything was clean and tidy. We stayed one night but used the facilities from arrival until checkout. Breakfast was included and very delicious, more tourist-friendly and European-style than at many other hotels in Sri Lanka. You can also pay 1500 rupees to use the pool and other facilities, though we didn’t do that.

A large, clean pool and super helpful staff made the stay even nicer. Breakfast was amazing, with lots to choose from. The hotel sits in a perfect spot on the beach, away from the noisy places but still just a short walk along the beach or path to plenty of great restaurants.

The food is really good, the prices feel fair, and the staff were kind. It's also a quieter stretch than most of the hotels, hostels, and restaurants around. There's a nice pool, too. The beach right outside is rocky and mostly suits experienced surfers, but walk 100m to the left and you'll find a perfect beach. The hotel has one of the best spots on the whole beach.

They had management promise several bookings through the season after three separate meetings at the property. Then, on the day 12 guests were due to arrive, they cancelled at the last minute. Some of those guests had just flown in on a long flight, and the disruption was apparently of no concern to them. They lied to us and backed out when we showed up. This was scam-like behavior. Unprofessional and unreliable, and I wouldn't trust them with a plan. If your booking, business, or event depends on commitments being honored, I highly recommend looking elsewhere. This place isn't it.
