The View Mirissa

You can enjoy the peaceful beaches of South Sri Lanka without paying hotel prices here. The View is a great hostel, and Mirissa Beach is so close that getting back after a swim is easy. The ocean view is beautiful, the amenities are enough, and breakfast is really good. Vimal, our caretaker, was warm and friendly. I'd recommend it 10/10.

We could have spent the whole day in the room watching the surf and the view. Our deluxe double had a huge private balcony, and from the bed we could see the sea across Mirissa Beach, Parrot Rock and Coconut hill. The room was modern, spacious and well equipped, and the outlook made the stay feel dreamlike. Breakfast had tasty, filling English and Sri Lankan choices. Bimal, I think that was his name, was prompt and very helpful. The place sits up a hill, but cars and tuk tuks can get there, and it's close to the main Mirissa area, restaurants, cafes and attractions. It's worth the price. Tip: The main road route to Mirissa Beach feels a bit long. Walk about 100 metres down the slope from the stay and use the stairs beside coral beach to reach the rightmost end of the beach.

For one of the best views of Mirissa beach, this cute little hostel is an easy walk away. I think it has space for about 12 people. The staff keep the place clean every day and are lovely about helping with whatever you need. They also do laundry, and you can get a tasty Sri Lankan or Western breakfast. Just don't count on tuc tucs taking you up the hill.

Bimal, his wife and father were kind, helpful and available whenever we needed them. We spent three lovely nights here on our honeymoon in the double room with a sea-view balcony. It was clean, and The View really does live up to its name. They've just finished a new dorm upstairs. I recommend it 100%.
