Relax Beach Resort

Our kids could play freely on the beautiful beach, which felt very safe and family friendly. We surfed right from the shore and spent plenty of time in the sand with fresh king coconuts. A lovely island feel. Relax Beach Resort is run by a local owner and his family, who were kind, welcoming, and grateful. Their hospitality felt sincere, and we felt at home. The whole place has a relaxed, personal, authentic atmosphere. We had an amazing time and would gladly return. It's a lovely choice for families wanting beach, nature, and warm Sri Lankan hospitality in Weligama.

The building is still unfinished, with construction on the top floor and noise around the property. It felt uncomfortable and unsafe, almost like being at a construction site. Payment was cash only. There was a constant sewage smell in the room, and mold covered the bathroom walls. Nobody cleaned the room, and the old towels smelled bad. There were far too many mosquitoes and flies, which seemed to point to hygiene problems. The place was poorly maintained, noisy, and unhygienic, with no comfort or peace. Being near the beach didn't make up for the experience.

The sunsets from the setting right on the beach were wonderful. We had a really nice stay at the relax beach Resort, with caring staff and very nice cooking.

For my mother's birthday, the staff put together a lovely breakfast with flowers, cake, and a song. They were always available and so nice, and the owner was professional. That kind of service made our family holiday feel special. The view was amazing, and our room was just a couple of meters from the beach. The food was good and fairly priced, and the rooms and service were both super good. It was definitely the best place for us to stay on vacation. I'd recommend it a lot, it's worth every penny 🙌 If I came back, this is where I'd stay.
