The beach looked nice from the room, but it had rubbish and was poorly kept. The staff were polite, and the welcome drink and service at reception initially gave me some hope. Still, the pictures online didn't match what I saw. I got this hotel through Sri Lankan alliance during a roughly 12-hour flight layover, and looked it up after being told about it at the airport. The reception interior looked old and needed upkeep. In the room, the furniture and beds were dated, and the bedding didn't look clean. I found hair, stains and dead insects when I pulled back the sheet, and there were a lot of mosquitoes. The bathroom was badly maintained and smelled awful; the bar soap was dirty, and the toilet stank. The customer service was courteous, but the hotel itself did not meet the standard I expected. It may be somewhere to stay instead of waiting at the airport for a flight, but I would be cautious.

The room had no slippers, and the washbasin kept dripping until the bathroom floor got wet. There was no shampoo or comb either. Aside from those issues, my recent stay was decent.

The hotel was very hot because the AC wasn't working, and the Wi-Fi was down too. The maintenance was poor, so if the airline offers this place free for a layover over nine hours, I wouldn't choose it over staying at the airport. We landed at 5:40 pm but only got to the hotel at 8 pm. They said a cab would pick us up at 4:30 am, but we waited until 5:20 and it still hadn't come. Worried because boarding was at 6:20 am and we still had security, immigration and another scan to get through, we booked an Uber ourselves and went to the airport. Nothing ran on time. Both the hotel team and Sri Lankan Airlines handled things badly, which was really disappointing.

Dinner was excellent, served as three courses, while breakfast was cold, tasteless and below average. The sea view is great, and the garden has coconut trees and a lovely lawn. The building is a little old and needs maintenance. Staff were helpful and friendly, but the Wi-Fi was very slow and unreliable.

The food was really good and felt just like home. Staff were humble and welcoming, and the atmosphere was pleasant. There's a nice swimming pool near the beach, too. We had a really good stay, and I'd recommend it for families.
