Tuk Tuk Hostel

This was my first stop in Negombo, and I enjoyed the short stay, even though I was just passing through. It's a decent hostel with good facilities, and being fairly close to the airport makes a late check-in manageable.

The rooms were good and the shower area was decent. Just keep in mind that live music at the restaurant can run until 1 am on weekends, so it may not suit you if you go to bed early. Fine for a night or two at most.

Ayesha at reception was friendly and helpful, and check-in and check-out were both smooth. I stayed one night at Tuk Tuk Hostel in Negombo at the end of my Sri Lanka trip. The rooms and showers were clean and comfortable, and I liked the on-site restaurant. The evening live music sounded good and gave the place a nice feel, but it was a bit too loud and went on for quite a while. Still, it worked well for my last night before flying out. I'd recommend it.

Think twice before staying here. The management seems to think it's acceptable to blast music at night across the neighborhood, all the way to the beach. It's sad that they disturb all the neighbors with what feels like a selfish, entitled attitude. I had thought Sri Lankan people and businesses were kind, polite, and considerate of their neighbors, but this place left me feeling otherwise. They seem to care only about themselves and their cash flow, at the community's expense. Seriously, stay away.
