Nilaveli was really quiet when I visited, and with my stay in November, there weren’t many restaurants around. The beach was within walking distance, and when I went, I had it entirely to myself. The Red Keep felt like a home away from home while I was travelling through Sri Lanka. Sam was an honest, welcoming host who kept checking that I was enjoying my stay and even took me around in his free time. My room was comfortable and clean, with fresh sheets when I arrived, a real luxury after South East Asia. A towel was provided too.
