Alpine Hotel

The location is handy for getting to Nuwara Eliya's main spots and is very close to the main road. For this price, the room was quiet and clean compared with other hotels. The facilities are good and the standard is decent, though it isn't perfect.

The location was good, but the hotel itself was terrible. Our towels were dirty and ripped, and a triple room was equipped for only two people. We asked for dinner at 8 pm, but another group arrived unexpectedly and our meal didn't come until 9. Nobody apologized, and the staff were full of attitude. When I asked for a spoon, they took one from a bucket of cutlery without washing it. It's a nice hotel that isn't being maintained, and the staff don't seem trained.

We won't be going back. The rooms and bathrooms smelled bad, had broken fittings, and weren't hygienic; the whole place looked old and neglected. Although breakfast was advertised as a buffet, the receptionist said each person could have only one egg. We were told to arrive at 1 pm, but our rooms weren't ready until we got there at 2:15. The garden is gone now and has been rented out to Chinese Dragon.

With our one-year-old baby, we found the old Alphain Hotel in Nuwara Eliya poorly maintained and not worth the price. The bathroom was outdated and awkward, with the shower set up so you had to stand in the bathtub, which didn't feel safe. Hot water kept being a problem, and we had to call staff each time we needed it, which was especially inconvenient with a baby. Breakfast was very average and fell short of what we expected.
