Country House - Nuwara Eliya

We came here for a photoshoot. The garden was so green, the rooms were comfortable, and the staff made us feel welcome.

The staff were kind and helpful, especially when they helped us sort out the BBQ. They have a gas BBQ machine, but it costs Rs.5000, which felt too expensive. We had no other option. The location is superb, with the town and Gregory lake close enough to walk to. The rooms were clean and the bathrooms were okay, though I wasn't very satisfied with the bedsheet cleanliness. Upstairs rooms are a better choice because the downstairs ones were a little dark. The place needs renovation, with quite a few things to fix, including discoloured paint. I think renovating is key to growing the business.

The hotel is in a very good spot in Nuwara Eliya city, but poor management has let it go downhill. The rooms were very dirty and the pillows weren't clean. Water leaked through the bathroom roof, and the hot water was impossible to control.

The view of the Race Course is superb, but the place feels too old and poorly cared for. The bed linens were ancient and very dirty, and rainwater leaked through the ceiling. It took ages for the hot water to become even slightly warm. It’s an okay option at a lower cost, but not worth the price they quoted.
