Ocean Breeze Villa

The gardens and beach were quiet, and the location is fantastic. I stayed for two nights. Great service, and the breakfast was fantastic too.

I loved the peaceful feel of this villa. It was easy to switch off and relax, with the beach right outside and a breathtaking view. The staff were super friendly. Such a great stay, and I'd definitely come back.

The trouble started with the booking. We paid half the cost a week ahead for two nights, after being told a BBQ, kitchen, and cook would be available, with the cook costing Rs. 3,000 and working until around 5-6 p.m. None of that was ready when we arrived. The person in charge only then tried to arrange things and wanted to charge us for both days. Before arriving, we had also checked that the BBQ was sorted, but it had been given to guests at the other villa. He only tried to rent another one after that. There are two villas. We weren't given the first one, which apparently had a proper kitchen and facilities. Instead, the owner recommended the second, saying it was newly built, which wasn't true. It had no kitchen, just an unhygienic makeshift cooking area that we found unacceptable. We took a video to warn potential guests. The Google Maps photos show only one of the villas; the one we got was old. We made a long trip and were disappointed, and the parking area wasn't good either. The person in charge was unprofessional and unresponsive, with no coordination or communication. He agreed to things on the phone and then didn't deliver. After seeing the place, we wanted to leave, but when we asked for a partial refund, he refused and said “stay or leave.” Nothing in the payment terms said the advance was non-refundable. We called Rathgama Police Station, and they handled it professionally. They understood our situation and told the villa owner to return two-thirds of the advance. He did so after more than an hour of discussion. The person in charge wasn't supportive and kept trying to make us stay even after the arguments. After that sort of argument, nobody would want to stay. He could have settled things politely by keeping part of the advance, as we had actually said before things got heated. We're genuinely grateful to the police for being fair and helping us. The owner came across as rude, unprofessional, and dishonest. I question whether some of the positive reviews are genuine, and strongly advise future guests not to book unless there's proper transparency and professionalism.

The old building where we stayed had a lovely beach view and direct beach access. There's plenty of garden space to relax with family and loved ones. The owner and staff were 💯 helpful, and the breakfast was superb. Kitchen facilities are available too. Only two upstairs rooms have a view of the beach. A great location.
