The meals were a huge highlight for us, especially the BBQ meats. They were marinated so well and cooked beautifully on the grill, and we went back for seconds every night. The restaurant staff paid close attention to our requests and remembered our preferences from the second meal onward. The lodge itself is a beautiful cabin with an outdoor plunge pool, just right for cooling off on hot afternoons before an evening drive. Since it’s close to the national park, wildlife visits the property too. We even saw a huge bull elephant at the hotel entrance. Our family had the best safari lodge stay at Uga Chena. Every staff member smiled warmly and worked hard to give thoughtful service. Ranger Vibu helped us see leopards, elephants, crocodiles, a ruddy mongoose and many rare birds. The rangers and drivers really made a difference. Ranger Yesi was wonderful with the young kids on the bush walk and Junior Explorer Program, patiently answering all their questions with real enthusiasm. The hotel manager told us the spa was being moved to a larger location and that they planned to hire more staff, with a new experience expected in November 2026. Our last three days here were beautiful, and I’d recommend Uga Chena to anyone visiting Yala National Park.

Gayan made the game drives and bush walks special for us. He was our ranger and was great. We had an amazing time at Uga Chena Huts, and everything exceeded what we expected. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and the menu changed almost every day with amazing food. The hotel and rooms are beautiful. I'd definitely recommend staying here.

The food was the best we’ve had on this trip so far. Every meal was flavorful and beautifully prepared, and the chef and restaurant team deserve a lot of credit. The private huts are luxurious, and the whole resort feels like a real escape. Everyone made us feel welcome and looked after from the minute we arrived. Sandun, our safari guide, was patient, knew so much and spotted wildlife brilliantly. We saw an incredible range of animals, and his passion for them and for giving guests a great time really showed. Shamal at the bar was friendly and attentive, making each evening feel special. Dilshan was a great host, too. The hospitality across the team was outstanding. This stay went beyond what we expected. We’d happily return and recommend it to anyone visiting Yala.

We chose Uga Chena Huts for our honeymoon, and the room was amazing. Everyone on staff was so nice. Sandun guided our safari and was patient and experienced. Everything was perfect, and I’d absolutely recommend the experience!

The safaris were fantastic, and the rangers really knew their stuff. We had a great time at this lovely place, with beautiful accommodation and a wonderful location. The staff were superb, and the food was delicious. Thanks to Saweeja for taking such good care of us.
