The Lake Hotel

We used to come here as a family and had stayed many times before it closed for quite a while. When I saw it had reopened, the photos on Google made everything look perfect, so I booked our family vacation as usual. Once we arrived, I realized those were old pictures from when the hotel was well maintained. The place now feels disorganized and lacking in quality. Our room was dirty and smelled very bad, and that ruined the whole trip. The new management's upkeep was upsetting to see. I felt misled by the photos, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here if you want a pleasant, clean place.

We loved the lakeside setting, and were lucky enough to spot elephants very close to the hotel. Wild rabbits and different kinds of mugati were visible around the huge, beautiful trees too. The location was peaceful, with a breathtaking lake view, and the pool and rooms were good. Staff were friendly. We ordered a few dinner dishes and enjoyed them, while the international breakfast selection was very limited. The local breakfast was good. Room service staff could use more training. We had to ask for a kettle and a dustbin that were missing from the room, but it wasn't a major problem.

The grounds caught my eye as soon as I arrived, and I liked that the pool looks right out toward the lakeside. The staff were friendly, but the service itself was poor. Food was the biggest letdown: it tasted strange and there wasn't much choice. The bathroom is tiny, and I think the translucent window should be removed. If possible, a small activity space for kids would be nice. I hope things improve by the time I come back.

The food had no taste, and the service was among the worst I've experienced. We booked standard rooms and confirmed the prices with the hotel over the phone several times. At check-in they took us to different, more expensive rooms without telling us about the change. We only found out when the bill came the next morning. When we raised it with management, they argued with us. We felt scammed.
