Seeing porcupines, lizards, lovely birds, and different kinds of monkeys was a treat. Monkeys came through the garden every other day. Hill House Mirissa was one of my favorite stops in our five months of travel. The rooms are pretty and affordable, the house itself is lovely, and there’s a shared kitchen you can use. It’s close to everything while still feeling calm. The owner is the kindest, most down-to-earth guy we’ve met. He looks after a cute puppy and lots of cats. They’re friendly and chatty, and will snuggle up if you want. Cat lovers will feel right at home here. We only wished we could stay longer. I hope we get to come back soon. 🩷🐱

The quiet, leafy garden felt like a little paradise, with cats, dogs, and sometimes even monkeys around. The beach is just a short walk away, but the place itself is so peaceful. We stayed about one and a half weeks, extended our visit, and still didn’t want to leave. It soon felt like a second home. The owner was so kind and helpful, always available when we needed anything and happy to chat. We really enjoyed our time here and highly recommend it.

I’ve been to Mirissa and Sri Lanka on three different occasions and spent a long time there. This is still my favorite place in all of Sri Lanka. The rooms are spacious and very affordable. The owner is the nicest man, and he and his mom care for many, many cats and a cute puppy. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Mirissa next time.

Hill House is well placed near Mirrissa beach, and tuktuks tend to charge a flat 500 rupee fare from anywhere in town. Kasun and everyone there treated us like old friends. He even threw me a surprise birthday party, which was truly above and beyond. I can’t say enough good things about them.
