Ratnaloka Tour Inn

I didn't stay at the hotel, but visited a few days ago for a wedding. The hotel is very beautiful, though I couldn't enjoy all the facilities. The garden is spacious but needs regular maintenance. The staff and service were the negatives, especially the waiters, who weren't very friendly or attentive.

Please avoid holding your wedding or homecoming at this hotel under the 3500 rupees package. These problems spoiled our wedding, and I'm writing this so the same thing doesn't happen at yours. The rooms were in poor condition. Some had no A/C, some door locks were broken, the bathrooms weren't clean, and the taps malfunctioned. The bridal dressing room was like a shed, with poor lighting and no A/C. It was too hot for bridal makeup, and the gloomy light wasn't suitable for good photos. Service was extremely poor. There were only four waiters for 150 guests, with two assigned to the bar and just two covering everything else. When we asked for more help, the waiters said to complain because it was out of their control. Bar staff tried to steal liquor bottles, and I later found that more than 70% of the cashew nuts were missing. We asked for Coca-Cola and Sprite for all the guests, but they apparently didn't provide them, perhaps because there weren't enough glasses or waiters. The lunch buffet for 3500LKR was basically noodles and dahl curry. The chicken and fish curry were only fit for cats and dogs. The wedding hall was an open, non-A/C area that became very hot with 150 people seated. There were only four industrial fans, and they didn't swing, so the air blew in one direction. There was little coordination with the person we'd first discussed the arrangements with, Miss Ranjai. The day before the wedding, while seating was being arranged, we had to remind them of what we'd agreed and call Ranjai. They also tried not to put on seat covers, saying the wooden finish on the tables and chairs looked beautiful. We asked for covers because it would be easier for them and save them from washing the covers afterward. They didn't provide ice cubes for drinks. I bought some, gave them to the staff to keep in the deep-freezer, and said to use them when the bar opened. They still weren't served until we asked repeatedly. In the end, it took 30 minutes to find them and bring them from the freezer to the bar. Compared with all these problems, there's little good to say. The one good thing was that they asked me for feedback at the end. I didn't give them a comment then. They should identify these problems themselves unless they are mentally disorder.

I held my wedding party here on 28th of November in 2019, and felt very dissatisfied and disappointed. The food quality was good, but they failed to provide the facilities they had promised and stole our belongings, including wedding cakes and other food. During the party, they also cut off the water supply to the rooms and bathrooms, and only restored it after we informed them. I would never recommend this place for important life events.

The gardens were very nice, but the food wasn't so good. The hotel needs some refurbishing. Rooms are spacious, though there are lots of small faults, like doors that don't close properly and a fridge that doesn't work.
