The room was good, with AC, mosquito protection and reliable hot water in the bathroom. The price was very good, and you can easily walk to Sigiria from this well-located place. The wifi didn’t work. My main issue was the host’s attitude: if you don’t use her help booking extra services, she becomes less nice, and she can be quite pushy. She also offers rates higher than the Pickme app. She did wash our clothes for 1300 rupies, which helped us a lot, though I’d give her only black or white clothes because she may have washed them together. Some of our whites came out a bit grey. We also had a great dinner for 1200 rupies per person.

Danara and her husband were so kind and welcoming, which made our three nights at Danara Homestay really enjoyable. My boyfriend and I had all our meals there, and everything was delicious. The place itself is lovely, cozy and full of charm. We absolutely recommend it.

Danara and her husband, Sabeetha, were so warm and helpful that we felt well looked after the whole time. She helped us arrange what we needed, including a Hurulu Eco Park safari, a cooking class, a lift to Pidurangala Rock for sunrise, and our washing, which was a lifesaver for us as backpackers. Breakfast was delicious every morning, and the bed was very comfortable after long days out. The room is simple and basic, but it makes a good base, with cafes, restaurants and activities nearby. It has AC and a mosquito net. We’d absolutely recommend staying here.

Danara homestay is a peaceful little oasis, within walking distance of Lion rock, shops and restaurants. The room was very clean, with fresh bedding and towels, and the air conditioning was welcome. Danara and her husband made us feel at home, and her tasty home-cooked dinner and breakfast were well worth trying. We were cycling, and they kept our bikes safely locked beside our room. I’d gladly stay again.
