Thick forest sigiriya

Both Pidurangala Rock and Lion Rock are close by, and you can see both mountains from the hotel. The beautiful pool was very clean, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They can arrange tours and transport, which made things convenient. Fantastic hotel, highly recommended.

We booked The thick forest for our first anniversary and had a great time. The rooms all have a jungle feel and were comfortable for the price. One staff member was especially helpful, though unfortunately I’ve forgotten his name. I’d give him 10/10. The staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was healthy too. The hotel is near Minneriya Forest, where elephants cross the road, and you can watch the view from your room. Sigiriya was also clearly visible. They had a small area under repair by the swimming pool, so we’ll visit again next time.

This was the worst hospitality experience I’ve ever had, and the hotel itself was already disappointing. The owner and his family seemed to run the place like their own fiefdom instead of serving paying guests. The owner was rude, arrogant, and unhelpful. Whenever we raised a concern, we got eye rolls or excuses. Family members working as staff acted as if even speaking to us was a favor. They seemed to have no idea about customer service, and were cold, unwelcoming, and at times outright disrespectful. There was no professionalism. They bickered in front of guests, ignored requests, and appeared more concerned with their own convenience than our comfort. It felt like staying in someone’s house where you aren’t welcome. Avoid this place if you value respect, comfort, or basic courtesy. One of the worst decisions we made on our trip.

The family are lovely and keen to help with whatever you ask, and the location is beautiful. If you think of it as camping, it’s more than great. But the cabin had no window screens, and we couldn’t open the windows to get a breeze at night.
