Thilina Homestay

My favourite stay in Sri lanka. The place has a beautiful home feel, right at the edge of the jungle. Thilina and his family made our time amazing, and Iona made us the best breakfast. Thilina showed us a lovely spot with views where we could swim, and lent us bikes to get there. Great people.

Thilina and his wife are always there for you and do what they can to make your stay special. They arranged an unforgettable three-day trip for us, with airport pickup, Lion’s rock, Dambulla temple, Pidurangala rock, an elephant safari, a village tour with cooking class, local gems, and transport to our next location. They also make really good food, and the room was clean with everything we needed. It’s a lovely family and a great experience. If you want a local feel and a chance to learn about their culture, this is a very good stay.

We were lucky enough to be there for the New Year celebrations, and the family made us feel welcome from the start. They answered all our questions and were flexible about what we wanted from our stay. There’s plenty to do nearby, while the place still feels peaceful and tucked away. After three weeks in Sri Lanka, the meals cooked by his wife and mother were the best we’d had. It’s a great base for exploring this part of the country, and I’d happily recommend staying with this family.

Thilina and his family made us feel at home, and we loved staying with them. Ayona cooked delicious curries in the evenings, and Thilina was kind and helpful with all our needs. Their home is a little outside Sigiriya town, but close to Pidurangula and Lion Rock. It felt like an authentic stay with genuine, welcoming people. I’d recommend it to anyone wanting to experience Sigiriya. Thanks for everything! 🙏🏻
