Harmony Beach Bungalows

At Harmony Beach Bungalow, the friendly staff gave the stay a personal feel. I loved being able to wander along the nearby beach, then have fresh seafood for dinner. The simple bungalow was a cozy place to come back to, with the waves audible all the time and the shoreline right there. It felt like a peaceful break from the busy world, with a bit of local character.

The setting is one of the nicer spots on this part of the beach, and the rooms are pleasant. Staff are generally friendly, too. Food service can be slow, even if you order ahead, so it may not work well if you're short on time. That seems pretty typical for this kind of place in Sri Lanka. The facility itself is among the better ones along this stretch.

We only had three nights here and wished we'd booked longer. The room was roomy, with cold air conditioning, a hot and cold shower, and a terrace where you can smoke or sit quietly with nature sounds and a lake or sea view. The restaurant food was really good, the chef clearly knows their stuff. And the staff were so friendly and helpful, that's honestly an understatement. I'd happily come back on my next trip to SL. We paid 3000 rupees a night for a very nice room across the road from the beach. It's a bit more upscale than some places nearby, but not much pricier than the cheaper options. Beach bar Zambia is just over the road on the sand. Isuru, who handles customer relations, is a fun character and always had us laughing. The food was delicious, especially the seafood choices.
