Peacock Villa

The pool and peaceful setting made this our favourite place so far in Sri Lanka. The bedrooms were clean and spacious, breakfast was superb, and there are good restaurants nearby. Staff were warm and welcoming throughout. It’s an easy ten-minute walk from the busy main road and the huge sandy beach. We couldn’t recommend it more.

We had a fantastic four-night stay. The pool area is lovely and quiet, and from our balcony we spotted turtles in the river behind the building, along with monkeys and water monitors. The owner and staff really make the place, and breakfast was varied, delicious, and suitable for dietary restrictions. They also clearly take sustainability seriously. And Simba, the sweetest dog, deserves a mention too. Just book it!

We found a great spot in Peacock Villa. It’s tucked up a leafy, quiet lane away from Mirissa’s chaotic main street, with restaurants close by. We were greeted with a delicious iced coffee, then shown to a spacious room with a big outdoor seating area. The pool was perfect for an afternoon, and breakfast was huge and tasty. Try the Sri Lankan hopper breakfast. No1 Roti shop is also a short walk away and well worth it.

Simba was my daughter’s favourite part of the stay, and she also loved the pool. Chandru was quick to answer questions, had our room ready when we arrived, and he and his team were always available to help. Breakfast was delicious, with coffee that was especially good. The hotel’s eco-minded approach stood out, from the refill water filter to its wider sustainable outlook. The property is beautiful and photogenic throughout. Our room could use a proper dressing table for all the gadgets people travel with, and an anti-slip bathroom mat would be useful. We’d gladly come back.
