Shanora Beach

The view is the main reason to stay here, but we found the reviews misleading and cancelled after two nights. The room was very small and pokey, the bed uncomfortable, and the sheets didn’t fit properly. There was no hot water or shower pressure. The wardrobe was broken, and the power outlets didn’t work for charging. There was a kettle and two cups but no complimentary tea or coffee. It’s very close to the street, so it was quite noisy. The service and staff also didn’t feel like what we’d experienced in other parts of Sri Lanka. Disappointed.

The rooms are basic and small, but the balcony view is stunning, and you can even enjoy it from bed. It’s great falling asleep to the waves. The place is a bit rustic, though the people are friendly. Beaches are very close on either side and right in front, breakfast was good, and the A/C worked well.

I visited last week with foreign friends looking for accommodation, and it was a very disappointing stay. The bedding wasn’t clean, the food was poorly prepared and didn’t taste good, and customer service was extremely poor. Parking wasn’t properly available either. The staff came across as arrogant and unhelpful, which made it difficult to ask for assistance. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a pleasant stay.

The location is really nice, right by the beach, and all the rooms seem to get the same view. The room itself is basic but decent. The bathroom was clean, though it had no amenities and there was no hot water at all. Breakfast was okay.
