At Surf Reef Guest House, the rooms are comfortable and well equipped, with private bathrooms, free WiFi, and air conditioning. There’s also a sun terrace for relaxing. It’s a cosy homestay with a personal feel, about 100 meters from Thalaramba Beach and 1.2 km from Mirissa Beach. Nandaseeli, who’s from Mirissa, knows the town well and can help arrange activities, from whale watching and spa visits to exploring hidden spots. She, her mother, and their friendly dog, Ceylon, made sure we had what we needed. Ceylon likes playing with guests in the spacious garden. Nandaseeli cooks delicious local breakfasts and dinners, and she’s happy to teach you traditional Sri Lankan dishes if you join her in the kitchen. Her local knowledge and advice make it easy to explore Mirissa and enjoy the food. We had a memorable stay.

The rooms are on the small side and have only one fan, and the house is a little far from the centre of Mirisa. Still, the family were very friendly, and dinner was delicious. For the price, I’d definitely recommend it.
