Leopard City Hostel

Shaman took me around Tissa on his scooter and showed me a beautiful town I wouldn't otherwise have seen. He also suggested a restaurant down the road where I had the best curry of my trip in Sri Lanka. Communication with him was great from the moment I booked, and he arranged my Yala safari and explained how to catch the bus to Ella. My private room was basic but just right for two nights, with a fan, mosquito nets, power plugs and an ensuite. I really enjoyed my stay and would come back for safari. Do a Tuktuk tour with Denzil, too, and go watch the bats fly off at 6pm. Thanks for a great stay.

I'm a solo traveller and stayed one night in a shared room. They kindly called to pick me up from the bus stop, but as soon as I arrived they asked about booking a safari and what I'd paid somewhere else. That didn't feel very nice. The room wasn't ready: there was no fan, sheets, soap or extra key for the shared room. They were helpful after I asked, but the room was still far below average. There was no water for the shower, and when there was, it had a lot of lime. The light switch had lots of black stuff on it. After I paid, someone took a selfie with me for Facebook without asking. I wouldn't recommend it.

The older couple were so nice, and we had a good chat. The bedroom was clean, though it had only one outlet and the fan was using it. It's a perfect base for getting to your safari.

Not a good place. There was no water and no service. It's a house where they rent out rooms, with mosquitoes, dogs and cats everywhere.
