Coconut Garden Hotel and Restaurant

We’ve been travelling for three weeks in Sri Lanka, and this has been our favourite stay so far. The staff are what make the hotel: they’re welcoming, friendly, and happy to go out of their way to make your stay as good as possible. The restaurant is well worth eating at. The food was outstanding, portions were generous, and there was a tasty mix of Western and local choices. Yala National Park is also only a short drive away. We’d very much recommend staying here ☺️

A lovely, authentic hotel and a great base for exploring Yala National Park. Shaan, their safari driver, was amazing. The host was gracious and kind, and all the staff were wonderful. They also provided delicious breakfast and lunch to take along on the safari.

The rooms were spacious and clean, and dinner was delicious with lots of options. The staff were kind and helpful throughout our stay. They organized a safari tour to Yala National Park for us, and it was an amazing experience. We were lucky enough to see four leopards, which is quite rare. We really enjoyed staying here.

The staff were very nice, but this place felt old and run-down, nowhere near the four-star hotel Lanka travels had booked for us. Our vegetarian meal was badly prepared too: rice with six small curries, and it was very poor. We stayed just one night. The sheets smelled and weren’t clean, lizards were crawling around, and the toilet seat wobbled and banged against the wall whenever we sat down.
