The owner even sorted out a tuk tuk for us on the morning we left, and was helpful and friendly throughout. Our room was roomy and clean, with soap and toilet paper supplied. The price was very reasonable, and although it’s central, it’s quiet away from the main street. We stayed one night and had a really pleasant time. Thanks, we’d happily come back.

The room was clean and had a cot and a bed, but the service was the worst part. There were no toiletries, TV, or complimentary tea and coffee. Breakfast was only three slices of bread and a thin omelette. They charged us when we asked for another omelette, which was totally unacceptable. I’d only use this place if I were desperate.

The beds were okay, but that was about the only good thing in the room. The bathrooms weren’t very clean, the showers didn’t work, and the taps had such low pressure that it was hard to wash properly. They said there’d be hot water, but the heaters weren’t working either. We also felt we had little freedom because the owner would come out and watch whenever we went out. We booked Tissa resort at the last minute after our usual places were full, and I was disappointed. I wouldn’t go back even if I had nowhere else to stay.

The neighborhood was so quiet that it was easy to relax, and the owners were very helpful. I meant to stay one night for my Yala Park tour, but ended up booking another. The room was spacious and clean, with its own toilet and shower.

If you book the safari through the hotel, it sets off right from there, and the guide was enthusiastic and knew his stuff. Breakfast may not be part of your room booking or safari, so keep that in mind. The room was clean and comfortable enough, and I thought it was really good value for the price.
