The lake right in front of the hotel is a sight to behold, and the staff were cheerful and helpful. Our room and toilet were clean. At night, being close to the lake means lots of bugs outside, and you’ll see plenty of lizards and geckos too. The bugs couldn’t get into the room, and unless you’re nervous around insects or reptiles, they shouldn’t bother you. We asked for sliced bread for lunch, but all three slices had fungus on them. Because of that, we decided to shorten our stay. If you stay here, keep an eye on the food you’re served.

The lakefront room we had was amazing, with floor-to-ceiling windows and a four-poster bed, though not every room has those features. There was strong Wi-Fi, but also a leaky bathroom pipe and no shower curtain, the sort of snags I’ve come across at Sri Lankan hotels. The hotel is well located, with a pleasant open-air reception and dining area leading to a pool facing the lake, with rooms along one side. The restaurant was just OK, nothing special, while breakfast was lovely. Almost recommended.

The rooms are pretty clean and face the lake, and there’s a swimming pool. There were lots of baby lizards and insects around, though. The food area wasn’t very clean either, and the food didn’t suit Indian tastes.

The staff were so kind and made us feel comfortable. We had a great view of the lake, and it was a lovely place to stay and spend our holidays.

The setting is fabulous, and the rooms are lovely. It’s also very convenient for Yala National Park. The food was okay, while the service really stood out.
