Amaranthe Bay Resort

We were upgraded to a junior suite on arrival, and the service stayed excellent throughout. The staff were courteous, efficient, and clearly well trained. We chose half board, and both breakfast and dinner were a delight, with well-cooked, nicely presented local and international dishes. The room's Aircon leaked and dripped onto the floor for half of our four-night stay. An annoying motion sensor also cut the power every ten minutes if there was no movement, which wasn't ideal when sitting quietly to read. Without those problems, this would have been a five-star stay. Even so, the food and attentive, polite service were excellent. I'd recommend it.

Amaranthe was a good stay. The rooms were lovely, clean, and the service was excellent. The location is good, right at the top of Upaveli. It has the feel of an old-school 5* resort. It's expensive, but you're paying for service where they'll do anything for you. We enjoyed our time there, though we preferred other places in Sri Lanka that still offered good service but felt more modern and contemporary.

The standout for us was the hospitality. Keerthana at Reception greeted us with a friendly smile, a positive attitude, and a willingness to help with anything. Chef Krishnanika also went out of her way to prepare several vegetarian dishes for our family. Breakfast each morning was delicious and offered plenty of choice, though as vegetarians we would have liked more options available as standard. We really appreciated the care she put into making sure we enjoyed our meals. Our pool-view room was spacious, spotless, and wonderfully cool after a day in the Sri Lankan sunshine. The beds were exceptionally comfortable, and the jacuzzi was a lovely touch. Travelling with our daughter, we found it easy for her to step out toward the pool and come back to the room whenever she wanted, which made things relaxed and convenient. The hotel was beautiful and well maintained, close to everything Trincomalee offers but still peaceful. The complimentary shuttle to the beach made getting around even easier. We had a wonderful stay at Amaranthé Bay, one of the highlights of our time in Trinco. We left refreshed and well looked after, with lovely memories. Thank you to the whole team. We hope to return.

The hotel was clean and well kept, and the location was good. They have a buggy to take guests to the beach. Staff were on hand to help and sort things out within minutes. Keerthana, Arun, and Singam went above and beyond, so a special thank you to them. Very nice hotel.
