Dutch Bay Beach Cottages

The manager was a real problem. When I visited a few months ago, there were bugs in the bed, no Wi-Fi, drinking water, toiletries or towel, and no hotel logbook entry. Nothing. It felt very shady.

Mr. Ramanan welcomed us himself when we checked in late. Our rooms were clean and came with towels, the bathrooms had enough water pressure and hot water, and the AC worked properly. My friend lost his room key while jet skiing, but the owner was understanding and helped us get into the room later that evening. We felt awful about causing him trouble. It’s a great place to stay on the beach in Trincomalee.

The view was good, and the beach was less crowded. The place itself was okay, but the service was very bad. The person looking after it was unfriendly, rude and not flexible at all. At 11.00pm, he rudely told us to go into our rooms and not stay outside. Some of the bedsheets were dirty and had patches.

The owner was very friendly, and there are plenty of places to eat within walking distance, even though there’s no restaurant at the hotel. The lobby has ocean-related decorations that add to the seaside feel. The rooms are comfortable, and the bathrooms are good. You can see Koneswaram temple and swami rock from the hotel. It’s right by the crystal clear Dutch bay beach, where it felt totally safe to swim. The beach is relatively clean considering fishing operations are active there. The hotel is right next to the city center and Dutch bay beach. A great place to stay in Trincomalee.
