Under Water Safaris

We planned to stay a few days and ended up here for three weeks. We’d been disappointed with the first place we booked online in Trinco, then stumbled across this one while walking along the beach, and were so glad we did. It’s right on the beach, near a lively stretch, restaurants, and shops you can walk to. We had dinner here every night. The food was always delicious and reasonably priced. The rooms are clean and spacious, with a little balcony where you can sit and enjoy the quiet. The staff were friendly, helpful, and accommodating to what we needed. I’d recommend this place in a heartbeat.

We keep asking if we can stay longer because we enjoy it so much at UWS. It’s in the best spot in Trincomalee, with lovely rooms, a private balcony, nice staff, and a scuba diving centre on site. You can walk straight onto the beach barefoot and reach the closest, best restaurants. Capital has sheesha, food, and drinks, while Fernandos is a food market place with a DJ.

Being right by the beach is a big plus. You can head down whenever you feel like it, or sit in the restaurant area, have something to eat, and enjoy the view. The owner is friendly and attentive, and the rooms are clean and moderately maintained. It’s a decent place, though it mostly gets tourists during the season. In the off season it’s pretty deserted, like the other places around there. That might suit you if a calm, quiet holiday is what you’re after, since you could have the whole place to yourself.

We were looking for a few quiet, relaxed days after travelling around Sri Lanka, and this worked perfectly. The place is right on the beach, with lovely sunrises, and restaurants and bars nearby. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was tasty and inexpensive. It’s pretty basic and nothing fancy, but it had everything we needed.
