Uga Jungle Beach

Praboda at the restaurant was especially friendly and helpful, and guided us toward some of the best experiences at Uga. The food was delicious and nicely presented throughout our stay. From arrival, everything felt carefully put together, from the well-kept rooms and facilities to the atmosphere. We had a luxurious, memorable time at Uga Jungle Beach in Trincomalee and would recommend it for a getaway.

We came here on the way back from Jaffna and found the hotel tucked beside a lovely beach, though parts of it felt a little dated. The beach at the property was cleaned daily and wasn’t too bad, but farther along it was a different story. I used one of the provided litter bags and filled it twice on my walks. The hotel seems aware of the problem and supports school events to educate local people, which is a good thing. Our recently refreshed room still smelled of paint, in a nice way. The outdoor shower was lovely, the bed linen was excellent, and the air conditioning and Wi-Fi both worked well. The small villa opposite the pool was quiet. Staff were chatty and clearly keen to engage, though at times that felt a bit forced. Maybe management could help them find a subtler approach. The pool felt small. It was quiet when we visited during the Iran travel issues, but three families around it would leave little room for anyone else. The dining area was functional.

The food was ridiculously delicious, and the staff were very friendly. Thanks to Ishara for the welcome, and especially to Suraj and the rest of the team for everything. The grounds have a jungle feel, with monkeys, squirrels, and crows around. There’s a pond with an alligator too, behind a fence, so it’s safe. The private beach was clean, quiet, and very nice. The building itself is old, and I thought the gym could offer more. A kids club might be worth considering. I’d rate it 4.5.

The staff made this stay feel special. They were professional, kind, helpful, and smiling all the time, and I’m sincerely grateful to every one of them. The peaceful natural setting, relaxing atmosphere, and well-maintained, premium feel made for a lovely stay. One of the best hotel experiences in Sri Lanka for me. I’d gladly return and highly recommend it. ♥️
