Green Heaven Safari Resort Udawalawa

I’d booked my Udawalawa safari with another provider, and the welcome changed as soon as I mentioned it. At first I got a free tuktuk ride from the bus station and mango juice on arrival. Then the host kept asking who I’d booked with, tried to discredit them without knowing their name, and asked if I could cancel. My friends had done the same tour a few days earlier, so I wasn’t going to cancel. The woman who greeted me put me on the phone with her manager, who repeated the same pressure. I was told I could only stay if I agreed to book their safari. The manager said this condition was clear in the booking terms, but I checked and couldn’t find it. I quickly booked another nearby hostel instead. The tuktuk driver kindly waited and dropped me there, and I paid him for the ride. There are positive reviews, and you may have a great visit if you want the hostel to arrange your safari. I feel that choice should belong to the guest. If booking their safari is required, that needs to be made much clearer from the start.

We originally booked this affordable stopover while visiting the national park, but got so much more out of our stay. Our host arranged a private safari, then took us on a private outing to a temple, where he shared lots of knowledge and made the visit really interesting. We continued through the jungle to a small village, an ancient 500 million old cave, and fresh springs. Honestly, it was one of the best days of our lives. The hosts were friendly and accommodating, the food was amazing, and he helped us plan the rest of our trip. Thank you so much, and we hope to see you again.

We were welcomed so warmly with fresh fruit juice. The peaceful village setting and the wonderful hospitality really stood out, and everything was offered at very good, low prices. We’d highly recommend it to everyone.

The rooms, food, and safari trips were all excellent. Their Udawalawe National Park safaris are good quality and inexpensive. Highly recommend.
