Hotel Athgira

I want to thank Athgira Udawalawe hotel for all the help they gave us when my dad passed away. My brother works at Athgira hotel, and the hotel provided us with a lot of services. The meals were amazing and helped us so much. I’m grateful to the management and all the teams for sharing our loss through such a difficult time. I couldn’t believe how much you care for your team. It was wonderful to see, and makes me proud to be Sri Lankan and part of this caring culture ❤️❤️ On my previous visit, I stayed at your hotel for a few nights and had great service then as well. Charming and affordable, with a lot for your money. Breakfast is great, and they help you get good access to the safari. They even found my Kindle after I left it in the room and sent it on!

We booked half board, and the food was great. Breakfast timing was flexible too. We told them our safari ran from 6am to 10am, and the cook made breakfast for us at 10:30am without a problem. The rooms were freshly decorated and comfortable, with very nice balconies. One odd feature was the open vent between the top floor rooms, which meant we could hear what was going on next door. The pool area looked a little tired, and there were no sunbeds out by the pool, just a stack in storage. We asked reception, and they brought some out and set them up.

Neranjana was a fabulous server, and the meal was phenomenal. We’ll happily come back before our next safari and visit to this region. Really tasty food!
