Brown Birds Villa

Very good room and bed, with a lovely owner. A beautiful beach is about 15 meters away.

The host was really friendly and happy to chat about culture and life, which added something special to our stay. We spent three nights and got a different full breakfast each day. Hiriketiya beach is 15 minutes away by car, and there’s also a beach just around the corner. The room was clean and spacious enough, with a comfortable bed and a perfect mosquito net. The air conditioning worked well, the shower pressure was good, and the pool was lovely and clean. If you bring dog treats, the dog will love them!

We felt so comfortable here and would have stayed longer if we’d had the time. The owners are very friendly and helpful, and try to make your wishes come true. They speak very good English. The rooms are spotless with balconies, large comfortable beds and a great shower. There’s a small kitchen and a washing machine you can use. The homestay is a little hidden, about 6 km from the city, which makes it a great place to switch off. A nearly empty beach that’s absolutely clean is only about a 5-7 minute walk away. The owner’s brother has a small, charming restaurant right next door. It opened only three months ago, and the menus are delicious and well priced. We’ll definitely come back next year.

We extended our visit from three nights to six because the local beach is one of the prettiest around and within walking distance. You can watch the fishermen working in the mornings, and it’s also a lovely place for birdwatching. Freddy and his wife were wonderful hosts, and we had many interesting conversations about the country and its people. The rooms were spotless, with little balconies or terraces opening straight onto a beautiful small pool. Breakfast had lots of choice and was excellent. There’s a kitchen where you can keep your clothes cold, and you can use the washing machine. We’d happily recommend it to everyone.
