Hibiscus Villa

The Wi-Fi was sometimes really poor. At times I couldn’t even send messages on my phone. Still, this is a beautiful, cozy place close to the beach, with a lovely garden full of plants. The house and room are new, clean, and huge, and they’ve even thought about soft, indirect lighting, which you don’t often get :-P! The owner is a very nice person, with four cute, friendly dogs. He also provides shelter and food for birds and other animals in the garden, so you can watch parrots eating breakfast from the beautiful terrace while you have your own. The people working there are very friendly too.

The host and his family, with their dogs, live above the property, and he made us feel very welcome. I had a wonderful week at Hibiscus Vila. The rooms and gardens are beautiful and peaceful, and the beach is just across the road. I’d highly recommend it.

The Hibiscus Villa was the most beautiful place we stayed in Sri Lanka. The rooms are very large and decorated so beautifully, and there are nice spots outside to sit in the garden with a cup of tea. The host is kind and helpful if you need restaurant suggestions or transport, and his two dogs are wonderful, friendly, and affectionate. The location is great too. The beach is just across the busy road, less than a five-minute walk away. You’re also near grocers, restaurants, and tuk tuks. The villa sits about 15 or 20 steps up a hill from the road, which keeps it quiet and peaceful. I couldn’t recommend staying here more.

Ajith, the owner, is there when you need him, and a very reliable Trishaw driver lives nearby. The cottage is good for any kind of traveller, and I can’t wait to come back. I stayed at Hibiscus Cottage, just down the road from the villa, and didn’t want to leave. It felt like a little slice of paradise. I spent hours on the terrace watching the monkeys, birds, squirrels, and other wildlife that comes through the garden. The semi-outdoor showers were another favourite, so refreshing. The cottage is private, spacious, and airy, with an open-plan kitchen, dining, and sitting area. The beach, restaurants, a great little supermarket, and an off-licence are only a few minutes away on foot if you can tear yourself away.
