Blue Swan Inn Hotel

The location was perfect, and on the day we left they even gave us a special Sri Lankan breakfast. This was the cleanest Airbnb I had in Sri Lanka. Highly recommended.

There were positives: the hotel staff were good, and I was told by them that someone could take my place. But the owner refused to refund even half the cost when I changed my accommodation plans after two weeks. I found the location noisy and busy at all hours, with fireworks audible at 11 p.m., so there was no real chance to rest. The rooms also look significantly different from the photos online. I definitely don’t recommend it. In response to your comment: I wasn’t told at check-in that the booking was non-refundable. It was supposed to be on the 36th, but I checked out much earlier, so you’re lying :) When I asked for a refund, I was told, “we do not refund the costs.” No discount was mentioned. I wrote three times and tried to reach an agreement. I could have paid the full rate for the nights I stayed and had the rest refunded. I didn’t leave without a reason. The staff told me someone was ready to take my place. I don’t recommend it, I don’t recommend it, I don’t recommend it. Money-minded scammers.

There was a lot of noise, and the conditions didn’t match the online photos. I warn people against this place. The owners seem to care most about money and exploitation. I wasn’t told at check-in that an early checkout wouldn’t be refunded, and they wouldn’t agree to return even part of the payment for a monthly stay, although someone was already there. The owner also tried to make me pay extra.

We were comfortable during our stay at Blue Swan Inn. The location in Unawatuna is handy for the beach and several good restaurants. Anna and her husband, Alex, were excellent hosts who helped us with everything, and the staff were pleasant and helpful too. We’d strongly recommend this place.
